Mr. Christopher Sayen

AMPed- Librarian

What College(s) Did You Attend?:  My quest for knowledge began at the University of North Texas, where I earned my Bachelor's in education. The call of learning echoed, leading me back to UNT and Texas Woman's University for my Masters in Library Sciences. Clearly, I was destined to be surrounded by stories!

Education History: I started as an elementary teacher, guiding 5th then 3rd graders, before venturing to middle school for English Language Arts and Principles of Engineering. After 11 years in the classroom, a grand new quest began: becoming a Librarian right here at Huffman! Now in my 15th year, I hold certifications from EC-6th Generalist to EC-12th Librarianship, a true educational odyssey!

Interests/Hobbies Outside of School:  When I'm not orchestrating literary adventures at school, you'll often find me deep within the pages of a book – shocker, right?!  There's a special magic in finding a quiet nook and losing myself for hours in a captivating tale. But my world isn't just bound by paper and ink. I'm also a seasoned explorer of digital realms, often found wielding a controller in the fantastical landscapes of video games. I even once ventured into the exciting world of Twitch streaming! My competitive spirit isn't just for the virtual world; back in my younger days, I dueled in Pokemon card tournaments and strategized in Starcraft tournaments. It seems I've always had a knack for playful competition!

Why is the IB PYP program important to you? For me, education isn't just about unlocking the secrets within a textbook; it's about opening a portal to the real world. That's why the IB PYP program holds such a special place in my heart. It's truly magical to witness students transform what might have been a simple worksheet into dynamic projects, engaging presentations, or even spirited debates. They don't just learn for a test; they learn to understand their place in the vast tapestry of the world and, more importantly, to envision how they can make it a brighter, better place. It's truly inspiring to be a part of this journey!
